Help Dr. Sam!!! Will the permanent teeth grow?

I have about 2 baby molars left, but not the wisdom teeth, and my dentist said that If I take them out, there MAY be a chance that the permanent teeth won%26#039;t grow out.....what if I don%26#039;t take them out and just elave them there? What if I take them out? ALso, he said that since I%26#039;m 13, all my permanent teeth should ahve grown out by now, so that%26#039;s why he thinks they might not grow out.

Help Dr. Sam!!! Will the permanent teeth grow?
The only way to answer this question is to see an x-ray and it would be preferable to have a panoramic x-ray. If your dentist does not have this kind of equipment, ask if he can send you to an oral surgeon or orthodontist just to get the x-ray taken. If he says he won%26#039;t send you, just go yourself!

Check this out to see why I suggest a panoramic x-ray:

The yellow outline show you the approximate area that would be covered by a really good full mouth series. Everything outside the yellow border would only show up in a panoramic x-ray. The FMX may be a bit sharper, but it is quite limited in diagnostic scope compared to a panoramic x-ray. This is an actual x-ray from my office and it%26#039;s typical of my panoramic films.

Pros: Much broader area covered

Cons: Possible loss of detail, although I am quite happy with my films
Reply:Get the panoramic x-ray and good luck. If you fidn you have no permanent teeth there, come back and ask a question about what to do. Report It

I had my wisdom teeth extracted. The Dr severed a nerve & now I have no feeling in my lower jaw and gums.Advice

That is horrible! But first of all...are you absolutely positive that he actually severed a nerve? Maybe you are just numb from the pain of the extraction. I remember when I got my wisdom teeth out I couldn%26#039;t feel anything for like two weeks and then feeling eventually returned after everything healed. If he did sever a nerve then there is no way of getting it back...but hey, it might be a good thing, you can get punched in the jaw and won%26#039;t feel it! You need to go see this dentist again, and see what%26#039;s up. (I bet he is probably so scared that you might sue him now!)

You needed to have that looked at a while ago. Nerve repair can be done that will restore some of the sensation. However, after one year the success rate goes way down. Go to an oral surgeon for an evaluation, and he can refer you to the right person if he doesn%26#039;t do it.
Reply:If after 1 year, the sensations not back, you need to see an oral surgeon or neuro surgeon that specializes in %26quot;mandibular nerve re-anastomosis%26quot; Just a fancy way to say they put the nerve back together. The chances of this happening are about the same as your chances of getting hit by a car. Not something that happens alot, but does happen.

They can try a surgery, but they won%26#039;t guarantee it%26#039;ll work. Best to get some opinions though
Reply:Same thing happened to me. Nothing you can do about it.

Hi has anybody used dr george,s teeth whitening kits are they any good are just a waist of money,do you know?

only answer if you have used this item thanks

Hi has anybody used dr george,s teeth whitening kits are they any good are just a waist of money,do you know?
Im a qualified dental nurse, and to be honest i wouldnt use any home whitening kits, unless you have been advised to by your dentist. they can irritate your gums, and damage the enamel of your teeth. Speak to your dentist first.
Reply:Like using false sun-tan lotion, using teeth whitening kits is simply a vanity generator. It%26#039;s illusory, ego-generating and a complete waste of money - like smoking!!!
Reply:My dentist informed me that whitening kits are dangerous in the fact you don%26#039;t know how much chemicals you are swallowing. They cause damage to the teeth and gums and people tend never to be satisfied and use them more and more often which enhances the damage sometimes which is irreversible.
Reply:I%26#039;m not too sure abt it. But there are many ways to whiten your teeth!

Here are many ways that you can whitening your teeth!

For home remedies.

Mix baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to form toothpaste. Brush the teeth regularly with this paste. It will remove all stains in a month.

Use bicarbonate of soda 5 minutes before brushing the teeth with normal toothpaste in the morning. This is a good home remedy for teeth whitening.

Rubbing the bark of walnut tree on the teeth helps in removing all stains from the teeth.

Strawberries are considered natural teeth whiteners. Rubbing the teeth with strawberries daily will remove all the stains.

If you would like a suggestion on tooth whitening gel, here%26#039;s something for you!

Crest Night Effects Whitening Gel (about $18.00) allows you to remove stains while you sleep. The tooth whitening system has a fresh, wintergreen flavor. After fourteen days of sleeping with this product on your teeth, you will wake up to a vibrant smile. You should see results in two days, although there are reports of tooth whitening results in one night

Reply:I have indeed used this product. I bought it about a year ago. I thought it was super! It whitened very well! If you notice very white spots on your teeth after you use it, dont worry, these will go away in like a day. My dentist told me that like Chest whitening strips are very good and safe and probably the best on the market. But i had tried Dr. Georges and found it very effective also. You can also just buy the gel and mix it 50:50 with your tooth paste daily! I found less sensitivity with this stuff also than with Crest whitestrips. good luck whatever you decide!
Reply:I have used it, I am not a certified anything, but I can tell you that I use it often (as well as my entire family) and I love it. It is the best that we have found. It really does work in %26quot;just days%26quot;, and for some reason it seems like it is a blackmarket item because it%26#039;s hard to find at your regular stores. The only thing is: don%26#039;t over use it, because it can make your teeth sensitive.

How much caffeine does Dr. Pepper have? How bad is it for your teeth?

How much caffeine does Dr. Pepper have? On a sale of one to ten- with 0 being Root beer (caffeine free) and 10 being Mountain Dew.

Also, how bad is DP for your teeth? Compared to other sodas?

How much caffeine does Dr. Pepper have? How bad is it for your teeth?
A 12oz can of Dr. Pepper has 41mg of caffeine. Mountain Dew has 55mg and Coke has 34mg. An 8.2oz Red Bull has 80mg. A cup of coffee has around 115-175mg.

What%26#039;s bad for your teeth in soda is the sugars and acid. The lower the pH, the more acidic. Water is neutral at 7.0, and the threshold for teeth to start dissolving is 5.5. Dr. Pepper has a pH of 2.92, and 9.5 teaspoons of sugar in a 12oz can, comparable to most colas.
Reply:Dr. pepper has a lot of sugar, not good for your teeth. The caffeine is probably about an 8, check the label on the bottle.
Reply:yea lots of caffeine and no soda is good for your teeth
Reply:Dr. Pepper has about 45 mg of caffeine in it per can.

in contrast, Dew has 60 - 65 mg, a cup of coffee or shot of espresso has 100 mg or so, depending on the roast.

All soda is bad for your teeth, in fact, it%26#039;s probably one of the worst things for it. Coke and Mountain Dew are the worst, because coke has more acid than your car battery does in it, and Mountain Dew has citric acid which helps bond the sugar to your teeth. This coupled with carbonation really destroys them quickly. If you want caffeine, and want good teeth, I suggest tea.

to find out how much caffiene is in your drinks :D
Reply:Root beer has the least normally but none are good for teeth

and it might help to recall how Dr. Pepper has been marketed. I%26#039;d give Root beer a five and push the others past ten.

Has anyone used the Dr George's teeth whitening with any success?

I%26#039;ve only seen minimal results but I want a product that%26#039;s cheap but effective. Any other products that would work besides the crest whitestrips? Thanks guys

Has anyone used the Dr George%26#039;s teeth whitening with any success?
Hiya, my friend had good results but they only lasted 4 months, whichever method you decide remember :

1) To get your teeth professionally cleaned by a dentist (scaling) first so that the whitening process is not sitting on a layer of tartar!

2) All Whitening processes are temporary lasting from 2 wks to 6 mths usually and don%26#039;t put down big bucks for laser whitening unless you are loaded, cos its temporary.

3) To keep your teeth reasonably clean for good, avoid tea, dark juices, coffee (like thats gonna happen!) and brush at least twice a day once morning (usual) but more importantly at night.

Can my dentist work on my teeth without permission from my dr?

about 2 weeks ago my dentist called 4 my 6 mth check up. i already knew that i had 1 tooth that was infected and needed to be pulled so i called my insurence 2 c if they covered a surgeon.they said only if its 1 that my dr referred me 2.they told me my dr has to refer me 2 ne kind of dr.i was told that after a certain point in ur pregnancy u cant have ne dental work done no matter what.i have a hole in 1 tooth and it really hurts. i did make an appt. w/ my dentist last mon. and they scheduled me in for the tooth 2 get pulled. i asked if they had 2 talk 2 my dr and the recepcionist even said yes they do. they cant give me novacane tylenol nothing w/o her permission 1st. can he still work on me w/o talking to my dr. if something were 2 b wrong w/ my baby when hes born could i sue my dentist if he does perform any thing on me without my drs permission

Can my dentist work on my teeth without permission from my dr?
they office will call and talk to your doctor. If the doctor gives everything and okay then they will go on with getting it pulled, if she says no they will contact you and let you know. I would suggest calling and asking your doctor about it just to make sure everything is right. If the doctor gives everything an okay and somthing goes wrong with your baby then its more than likely the doctor at fault not the dental surgan. However theres all kinds of things with any legal suit. It dependse on all kinds of details if you have a case or not, and who is really at fault.
Reply:yes
Reply:Your dentist requires your permission to perform any kind of dental work on you. Your dentist would be an idiot if he were to perform any kind of dental work knowing that he must have your doctors permission. I would suggest you talk to your doctor about this so he/she might confer with you dentist to work out a way to remove said tooth and remove your suffering.
Reply:of course they CAN, the question is more of a %26#039;will they?%26#039; if they say they cant/wont, then that means they arent going to do it. just make sure you get everything all straightened out first and good luck with ur pregnancy!(and tooth)
Reply:I wouldn%26#039;t think you could sue your dentist if you willing go in to have your teeth worked on knowing the dentist didn%26#039;t have the permission of your doctor.
Reply:They Dr and the dentist should speak... but everything should be ok to be done. As long as you don%26#039;t need any IV kind of drugigng for the dental work, and only need local meds, you should be fine for any procedures. Just watch out afterward, you may not be allowed to take the major painkillers that you might normally get after major dental work. For this your Dr may be able to help, cause tooth pain can be harsh... but you want to get it done as soon as you can. You won%26#039;t have as much time after the baby is here....
